Description
This community collaborative project encompasses an artist-in-residence and storytelling project facilitated by Fremantle-based artists Audrey Fernandes-Satar and Arif Satar in partnership with the Cannery Arts Centre located in Kepa Kurl-Esperance.
Diverse members of Esperance’s community come together to workshop the creation of a series of works that reflect the stories of young and old, individuals and families to articulate the local culture and identity: Memory Objects using the medium of ceramics and Story Books fashioned as mixed media Zines.
The project aims to empower individuals to express themselves through arts and cultural activities, to gain skills and confidence in taking part in creative projects and to find their own voices to articulate personal histories, stories, and experiences. The project culminates in a public exhibition of these new expressions.
