In addition to the international exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre and John Curtin Gallery,
a festival program of exhibitions and events is presented by craft artists, galleries, art spaces and craft groups in support of the IOTA21 themes.
The Artist Collective that is We Must Get Together Some Time is traveling to regional areas exhibiting a selection of artworks from the multi-venue exhibition in Mandurah in October 2021.
WeMust Get Together Some Time (WMGTST) is an artists’ collective practicing slow making, through active and passionate long-term creative engagements with non-urban places and non-human worlds.
The artists include Dr. Annette Nykiel and Dianne Strahan, Dr. George Karpathakis, Holly Story, Dr. Jane Donlin, Dr. Nandi Chinna, Sharyn Egan, Dr. Nien Schwarz, Dr. Perdita Phillips, Helen Coleman, Michelle Slarke, and Todd Israel.
WMGTST are a multi-disciplinary team of 12 artists from the Kimberley, Great Southern, Wheatbelt regions, and the Perth metropolitan and Peel coast. Working with materials including textiles, natural materials, found objects, ceramics, video and creative writing to create finely crafted works. These beautifully crafted slowly made artworks, stories of their making workshops will open conversations with audiences and invite responses to questions and concerns about the natural and cultural materiality of non-urban places in these precarious times.
