Warrick Palmateer

Description

Warrick Palmateer has a deep connection with the Indian Ocean and its surrounds, which has grounded and informed his journey as an artist/potter. The ocean inspires his choices of texture, colour and form, and the way he works with clay. The potters wheel is his primary tool – as are the clays of Western Australia – through which he intuitively communicates the land and seascapes that are special to him.

A keen surfer, his experiences of the ocean and south west coast of Australia infuse all his work in colour, textures and form. He is keenly aware of the fragility and rugged beauty of the littoral zone between the Indian Ocean and its vast coastline.

Warrick is showing a new body of work for IOTA24 at the Rockingham Arts Centre. Perched as it is right on the Indian Ocean, and with its natural light and ease of access to the beach, it is a wonderful venue for this work.
