Accumulated heirlooms and an abundance of personal treasures are all the artist needs to engage in a feast for the making. Carefully stored in suitcases, cabinets or drawers these objects are an important part of the artist’s story so unpacking them provides an opportunity to restore their existence within the family’s valued history.

Driven by the enjoyment and urge to make, the importance and close relationship with inherited treasures resurfaces in unexpected sculptural forms and hand embroidery. Carefully repairing, beautifying, and making new forms into artworks, triggers for the artist heartfelt memories to a person or people, providing a sense of belonging in the family line. Investment and contemplation are also a special part of an inheritance and is key to the variations and possibilities.

In the act of making, the artist has found new meaning in these treasured objects by creating unique compositions, inviting curiosity and ongoing enjoyment for future generations.
