Sundar Madam, Mosaic, 2021, mud print indigo khadi, 210 × 210cm. Collection: The Stitching Project.

From the ancient textile techniques preserved by Porgai Artisans to the innovative, purpose-driven ethos of The Stitching Project, their intertwined narratives embody resilience, empowerment, and sustainability.

These communities defy the tide of mass production, celebrating the enduring power of handmade craftsmanship to unite, empower, and inspire. Each stitch carries stories of pride, endurance and harmony woven into the very fabric of their creations, encouraging us to explore the rich tapestry of contemporary craft and the transformative potential of art.

Visit us to enjoy: A photo exhibit and display of traditional pieces from the Lamdadi tribe in Sitillingi Tamil Nadu; the textile artworks from their Porgai 2023 at home residency program. A quilt exhibit by the Stitching Ladies of The Stitching Project Pushkar.

A series of talks, workshops and movie screening with the coordinators of both projects and also two artisans.
