Description

In celebration of the achievements of the members of the Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia (JMGA), this exhibition surveys current contemporary jewellery in Australia and New Zealand.

Through the creative process, artists turn an intangible concept in to a tangible object through a continuous development of reflection and refraction. The time spent creating enables us to stop and reflect, and it is those moments of reflection that allow for refraction, or redirection, to occur.

Is the outcome of our work a reflection of us, as best as we can express it? Or does the process of refraction cause us to shift directions, facilitating a distortion or alteration of our personal expectations and offering up a new perspective? Artists reconsider their current viewpoint and explore the different ways of experiencing the world.
