Description

The contemporaneity in understanding craftsmanship in art is open and there may not be one definite explanation. Instead of drawing distinction between art and craft, an intriguing approach involves exploring the diverse interpretations of ‘crafty’ artworks.

This perspective encourages appreciation of the subtle blend of skill, creativity, and tradition characteristic in such pieces.

The group exhibition invites audiences to consider their own modes of exploration and interpretation, encouraging an extensive engagement with the complexities of contemporary art and craftsmanship by including works that stimulate ‘translation’ in three manners: appropriation of visuals in craft, mixing materiality into new interpretation, and craft as a universal language.

Co-curated for IOTA24 festival by Haisang Javanalikhikara and Atty Tantivit.
