CURIOSITY & RITUALS OF THE EVERYDAY
In addition to the international exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre and John Curtin Gallery,
a festival program of exhibitions and events is presented by craft artists, galleries, art spaces and craft groups in support of the IOTA21 themes.
From Sep-Nov 2021 in Western Australia.
25 September - 5 December
Bunbury Studio Potters: Lesley Austin, Kerry Dinkgreve, Joanne Floyd, Jacki Hooper, Beth Ivanac, Deborah James, Jan James, Davida Palmer, Barbara Stuart, Robyn Weidenbruch. Bunbury Weavers: Jill Cooney, Robyn McCarron, Jane Morrow, Sharon Smith.
The exhibition includes two craft disciplines, ceramics and weaving. The ceramic element comprises 12 stacked sets of two plates and a bowl, each potter having the freedom to handbuild or throw the work and bring their own aesthetic to the set.
The weavers are creating 12 placemats on looms to compliment each set of dinnerware with colour and texture to suit.
This will be an austere display on a table that can easily accommodate the 12 place settings. There will be no other items displayed on the table so that the observer focuses on the individual place settings without the usual distractions common in exhibiting work.
The exhibition is alone in the Convent Gallery at BRAG and there will be artist talks during the event.
Gallery Hours: Monday – Sunday: 10am – 4pm
