Artists

Monia Allegre

Description

Before relocating to Australia in 2003, Monia’s travels involved observing and meticulously analysing the influences of different places on Earth.

She explored multiple worlds within the World, comparing these influences with her upbringing in a large capital city, in a country rich with history and heritage. Adapting her daily life and practice to diverse cultures (France-Italy-England-Netherlands, North America and Australia) formed the foundation of her work.

Now residing in Perth and having established her family there, Monia’s children are growing up with a blend of Australian and French culture, essentially living in parallel codes themselves, repeating the template traced by her. She sometimes wishes that these parallel worlds intersect at a common point, fostering exchange and collaboration to create a beautiful perpendicular.
