The Language of Craft: Contemporary Art in South East Asia

Description

This exhibition explores artistic practices in the region using the language of craft, investigating how artists respond to the techniques and philosophies of master artisans and craftspeople. Contemporary works are displayed alongside those of master artisans. Public programming will centre around discourses on the intersectionality between craft and contemporary art in South East Asian and the Indian Ocean.

This satellite exhibition will introduce IOTA and its vision to the creative communities in Kuala Lumpur, and feature in Creative KL, an initiative by the local government, private sector and creative communities.
