This exhibition looks at the language of body adornment and the messages conveyed through garment, jewellery, body markings, masks, and sculptural forms.

This is not an exhibition about the constantly changing world of fashion, but personal or cultural statements that express deeper symbolism and narratives about the wearer. It is anti-fashion that celebrates the joy of hand craft and slow making.

Garments and objects displayed will derive from personal, family histories, tattoos, and cultural heritage and employ a wide variety of techniques including beading, felting, weaving, hand embroidery and complex creations overlaying appliqué, machine stitch, dyeing, and drawing with indelible markers.

The exhibition will be supported by talks and workshops.

Curated by Maggie Baxter plus works from the collection of Mala Sujan.
