WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE OCEAN, YOU SEE THE SKY
Bringing together artists and curators from India and Australia, the day unfolds through conversations exploring craft as a way of thinking, making and imagining otherwise.
Moving between inherited knowledge and experimentation, the gathering asks how materials connect us to memory, place and community—and how contemporary practices can open new possibilities for exchange across cultures and geographies.
The day concludes with drinks and a special performance by Debashish Paul, A Thousand Years of Dreaming (2024).
Please join us for a day of conversation, connection and exchange.
Registration is free, RSVP essential to rsvp@indianoceancrafttriennial.com by 28 September 2026 or via https://forms.gle/T2f3Loz5QXp9z1db7

PROGRAM OUTLINE
Through presentations, conversations and exchange, the forum considers craft as a form of inquiry—one that is embodied, situated and shaped by relationships to place, ecology and community.
Moving between inherited knowledge and experimentation, the gathering explores how artists work with materials to question histories, reimagine traditions and respond to changing cultural and ecological conditions.
At its centre is an understanding of making as a way of thinking, connecting and imagining otherwise.
