Biography
Sonia Luhong Wan is a curator, artist, and translator hailing from Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. A graphic designer by training, she has also worked in the spaces of wildlife conservation and renewable energy access. Sonia’s diverse portfolio informs her reflective approach to sustainable community-building in the arts, where much of her work focuses on lowering barriers to entry for emerging artists in Sarawak and Borneo as a whole. She is of mixed Kayan and Bidayuh descent, both of which represent distinct indigenous communities hailing from the northern and southern regions of Sarawak respectively.
