Call for Proposals – Be Part of the IOTA27 Community Festival

Calling galleries, art spaces, community groups and craftspeople to apply to be a part of IOTA27 – a celebration of contemporary craft in WA.

APPLICATIONS are now open!

15 July 2026

The IOTA27 Community Festival is the community heartbeat of the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial—a statewide celebration of contemporary craft taking place across Western Australia from mid-September to mid-December 2027.

We’re inviting galleries, museums, artist collectives, community organisations, local governments, craft groups, cultural organisations, businesses and individual makers to propose exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, talks, open studios and other creative activities that celebrate contemporary craft and connect communities – and respond to the curatorial theme for 2027:

When you look at the ocean, you see the sky

Whether your idea is fully formed or still taking shape, we’d love to hear from you.

The Festival complements IOTA’s curated international exhibition program and conference, creating opportunities for communities across the Western Australia to participate, connect and celebrate craft.

Proposals close 31 August 2026.

NOT IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA?

If you are not based in Western Australia and would like to deliver a satellite event or exhibition in your home country within the Indian Ocean Region, contact us to discuss your proposal: craft@indianoceancrafttriennial
